About this position
This postdoctoral fellowship in econometrics is based in the Department of Economics at Macquarie University’s Macquarie Business School on the Wallumattagal Campus in North Ryde, Sydney. The project is led by Professor Shuping Shi and sits within a strong research environment spanning applied econometrics, financial economics and econometrics, macroeconomics, behavioural economics, and development economics.
The fellow will contribute to a research project with two closely related directions. The first focuses on developing and applying econometric methods for counterfactual policy evaluation when outcomes follow nonstationary processes. The second advances high-frequency econometric methods for studying financial-market dynamics using intraday data. The successful candidate may contribute to one or both strands, working on method development and empirical analysis within these quantitative areas.
The role is embedded in a department that connects research with business, policy, and the wider community, and it offers the opportunity to join an established economics unit at a major Australian university. The position is full-time and fixed-term, with a research programme centred on modern econometric theory and its application to policy and financial-market questions.
