About this position
RIKEN’s Center for Emergent Matter Science is recruiting a Research Fellow / Special Research Fellow in the Research Team for Electronic State Microscopy at the Wako Campus in Saitama, Japan.
The project focuses on electron microscopy, focused ion beam (FIB) microfabrication, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), tomography, in-situ observation under external fields, machine learning, and Python-based data analysis. The lab studies microscopic magnetic states and dynamics in strongly correlated electron systems, including electron bonding states, spin textures such as skyrmions, interface structures, and electron phase transitions.
This is a fixed-term, non-tenure-track research position. The annual salary starts at about 4 million yen, with additional allowances such as commuting and housing support, and social insurance coverage. The appointment begins on or after April 1, 2026, and the contract may be renewed depending on performance up to March 31, 2031.
Applicants should have a PhD in electron microscopy research in physics or materials science, or be expected to obtain the degree by the start date. Applications are accepted until December 11, 2026, and may close earlier if a suitable candidate is found.
To apply, submit the required electronic documents through the RIKEN careers page. Email submission is also possible to [email protected].
