About this position

Texas A&M University's Department of Aerospace Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in computational fluid dynamics, turbulence, and fluid mechanics at the main campus in College Station, Texas.

The researcher will conduct high-fidelity simulations of wall-bounded flows with pressure gradients, flow separation, relaminarization, and wake dynamics. Responsibilities include developing computational tools and analysis methods, performing large-scale simulations on high-performance computing systems, analyzing turbulence and complex-flow data, and contributing to physics-based and data-driven models. The work includes boundary layers, separated flows, wakes, airfoils, Lagrangian particle tracking, Eulerian-Lagrangian analysis, validation studies, and related scientific-computing activities.

Applicants must hold a doctorate. A Ph.D. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or a related discipline is preferred. Experience with fluid dynamics, turbulence, CFD, DNS, spectral or high-order numerical methods, HPC, reduced-order or surrogate modeling, physics-informed machine learning, and flow-analysis tools will be valuable.

Application materials include a CV or resume, three work references with contact information, and representative publications. Compensation is commensurate, with employee benefits including medical insurance, retirement contributions, paid leave, professional development, tuition assistance, and wellness programs.

Location: College Station, Texas, United States. Position: Full-time postdoctoral staff appointment.

Funding details

Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position includes Texas A&M Engineering employee benefits, including medical and prescription insurance, optional vision, dental, life, and disability insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, professional development, tuition assistance, flexible spending accounts, and wellness programs.

What's required

A doctorate degree is required. A Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field is helpful. Applicants should have a strong background in fluid dynamics, turbulence, computational fluid dynamics, and scientific computing; experience with high-fidelity simulations such as DNS and/or spectral or high-order numerical methods; high-performance computing experience; and experience with Lagrangian particle tracking, Eulerian-Lagrangian data analysis, wall-bounded turbulence, pressure-gradient flows, flow separation, or wake dynamics. Familiarity with reduced-order modeling, surrogate modeling, or physics-informed machine learning and strong written and verbal communication skills are also helpful. Required application materials include a resume/CV, contact information for three work references including at least one supervisor or former supervisor, and representative publications. Employment requires completion of Form I-9, verification of credentials and work authorization, and a criminal history check.

How to apply

Apply through the Texas A&M University System Workday application portal. Submit a complete application with a CV/resume, three work references and their contact information, including at least one supervisor or former supervisor, and representative publications.
