About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher in Econometrics and Causal Inference at the University of Groningen, Department of Economics, Econometrics and Finance.

This is a three-year postdoctoral position funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) project Evaluation of Policy Interventions on Societal Inequality. The project is centered on the development of new econometric methods to assess the distributional effects of policy interventions. The methodological core includes distribution regression, difference-in-differences, machine-learning methods, and valid statistical inference.

The successful candidate will also apply these methods to substantive questions on socioeconomic inequalities, including inequalities in health over the life course. The postdoctoral researcher will work in close collaboration with Prof. Aico van Vuuren and Prof. Gerard J. van den Berg, together with other members of the international research team.

This opportunity is well suited to researchers with a strong background in econometrics, causal inference, and quantitative methods, especially those interested in policy evaluation and inequality research. The position is based at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.

Application deadline: 2026-12-15.
