About this position
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in spatial data science to develop an innovative model for estimating the direct and indirect costs of urbanization. The project focuses on how urban morphology—particularly compact and sprawling forms—affects infrastructure, health, environmental, and broader socio-economic costs.
The researcher will develop and calibrate a predictive model using real-world case studies, then simulate urbanization costs across different climatic, morphological, and social contexts. The work will contribute methodological approaches for understanding urban dynamics and provide decision-making tools for sustainable urban planning, with particular relevance to African issues.
The role combines urban modeling, data science, predictive analytics, machine learning, and complex-systems modeling. The researcher will also produce scientific publications, participate in teaching activities, and develop new research proposals within a stimulating multicultural research environment.
