About this position
This postdoctoral position is based in the Quantum Dynamics and Information group led by Prof. Ahana Chakraborty in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Louisiana State University. The group works at the intersection of theoretical condensed matter physics and quantum information science, with a research emphasis on the non-equilibrium dynamics of quantum many-particle systems.
The project centers on theoretical investigations of quantum materials and quantum circuits. The successful researcher will study topics such as non-equilibrium phase transitions in driven quantum materials, manipulation of quantum matter by light, including ultrafast laser and quantum light in THz cavities, and entanglement dynamics in quantum circuits. The work uses many-body techniques tailored to open quantum systems and disordered systems.
The role is embedded in a broader condensed matter research environment at LSU, where theory and experiment interact closely across the department. The group collaborates with experimental researchers and is connected through Professor James Sauls to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Superconducting Quantum Materials and Systems Center. The postdoc will contribute to theoretical research, help advance open quantum systems applications, mentor graduate students, publish papers, and present at conferences.
The position is within a collaborative university setting focused on quantum information and material science, offering an active research atmosphere across theoretical and experimental condensed matter physics.
