About this position
The Building Blocks of Cognition Laboratory in the Department of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley is seeking a postdoctoral scholar employee in cognitive neuroscience. Led by Professor Silvia Bunge, the lab investigates the cognitive and neural processes that support reasoning, memory, and goal-directed behavior in humans.
The appointed researcher will join a National Institute of Mental Health project, “Narrowing the mechanistic gap for anterior prefrontal cortex function”. The project focuses on the lateral aspect of anterior prefrontal cortex, a region whose anatomy in humans is not clearly defined and whose role in cognition remains poorly understood. The work aims to examine this area at a more granular level using multimodal neuroimaging, including fMRI, structural MRI, and diffusion-weighted imaging.
The position is embedded in a collaborative research environment at UC Berkeley’s Brain Imaging Center, working with 3 Tesla and 7 Tesla scanners. The project also involves close collaboration with Associate Professor Kevin Weiner, a functional neuroanatomist, and with staff in Professor David Feinberg’s lab, supporting the MR physics side of the work, alongside collaborators at other sites.
The postdoc will contribute directly to data analysis and interpretation, manuscript preparation, and presentation of results. The role also includes mentorship of lab trainees and participation in an active research group centered on human cognition and brain imaging.
This is a research-focused postdoctoral opening in cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging within a highly collaborative academic environment at UC Berkeley.
