About this position
The Collective Dynamics and Quantum Transport unit at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University in Japan is inviting applications for a postdoctoral scholar position starting in Fall 2027.
This theory-group opening is centered on theoretical condensed matter physics and related areas, with research interests spanning light-matter interactions, nonequilibrium many-body theory, quantum magnetism, open quantum systems, quantum thermodynamics, and quantum sensing. The group studies dynamical and transport phenomena in magnetic and spin systems in and out of equilibrium, and the exact topic can be decided jointly with the PI.
The position offers a strong international research environment at OIST, with opportunities to supervise PhD students and undergraduate/master interns, collaborate with other OIST units and external theoretical/experimental groups, travel for conferences and workshops, and apply for research funding.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a doctoral background in theoretical condensed matter physics or a closely related field, with preferred expertise in one or more of the areas listed above.
Funding and benefits: expected annual salary is 4.5M–5.9M JPY. Benefits include relocation, housing and commuting allowances, paid leave, summer holidays, health insurance, pension insurance, accident compensation insurance, child development center access, schooling options, language education, resource center support, and a remote work system.
