About this position
Michigan State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar for a quantitative cell biology project focused on how human cells repair DNA double-strand breaks.
The research will examine the dynamic recruitment of homologous recombination (HR) factors to DNA breaks, measure repair kinetics, and investigate competition between HR and the non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) pathway in living cells. The project uses an established collection of human cancer cell lines expressing HaloTagged HR factors from their endogenous genomic loci.
The postdoctoral researcher will work with quantitative live-cell approaches to characterize DNA repair behavior. The research environment incorporates cell biology, DNA damage repair, advanced fluorescence microscopy, genome editing, computational analysis, and single-molecule approaches. The associated research website is the Jens Schmidt group page at Michigan State University.
