About this position
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology is seeking a postdoctoral scholar for a cutting-edge project on thermal diodes. The research centers on understanding and developing heat-transport behavior in heterogeneous nanostructures, with a particular emphasis on how condensation and evaporation drive thermal transport under varying temperature gradients.
The scholar will work on advanced micro/nano-fabrication and micro/nanoscale fluid and thermal experiments, then analyze the resulting data and build heat-transfer models to interpret the observed mechanisms. The role also includes publishing the research in peer-reviewed journals, presenting results at conferences and seminars, contributing to proposals and grant applications, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate researchers.
This position is based in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology, a private research university in Hoboken, New Jersey, with an interdisciplinary research environment and collaboration opportunities within and beyond Stevens.
Funding details
Annual base salary range of $56,000-$60,000.
What's required
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field is required. Candidates should have a strong background in heat transfer, thermofluids, or nanoscale energy transport, hands-on experience with micro/nanofabrication techniques and thermal/fluidic experiments, a demonstrated record of research publications in relevant areas, and excellent communication, teamwork, and mentoring skills.
