About this position
Postdoctoral Scholar in Visual System Neurobiology & Multi-Omics at the University of California, Los Angeles, in the Department of Ophthalmology, David Geffen School of Medicine.
This fully funded postdoctoral project is based in the Peng Lab and focuses on decoding the development, circuit organization, and degeneration of the visual system. The lab integrates single-cell multi-omics, including scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, and spatial transcriptomics, together with cell-surface proteomics, viral vector engineering, and computational modeling. The research is framed around neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration, with an emphasis on visual system biology.
The successful researcher will lead independent and collaborative projects using multi-omic profiling, functional genomics, and viral targeting strategies. The work also includes standard molecular and cellular neurobiology approaches such as construct design/cloning, cell and neuronal culture, immunohistochemistry, and Western blotting. In addition, the postdoc will carry out bioinformatic and statistical analyses on high-throughput single-cell and spatial transcriptomic datasets, contribute manuscripts, support grant reporting, and present results at major conferences.
The position sits within a research environment that combines experimental neurobiology with computational analysis, offering access to a project at the interface of ophthalmology, neuroscience, and multi-omics technology.
