About this position

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join a neurovascular imaging laboratory led by the Tran Lab. The project focuses on how neural cells communicate with vascular cells within the neurovascular unit to regulate blood flow and match moment-to-moment metabolic demands in the brain.

The successful postdoctoral researcher will carry out independent experiments on neurovascular coupling and cerebral blood flow regulation. The work combines delicate surgeries, complex pharmacological manipulations, and highly technical imaging, with an emphasis on understanding how local signals are integrated to control blood flow distribution during brain activity.

The lab uses state-of-the-art two-photon fluorescent light microscopy in awake in vivo mouse models, together with advanced physiological techniques, to study cellular communication between different members of the neurovascular unit. This environment is designed to support mechanistic research on brain vascular control and neural function.

The Tran Lab aims to uncover potential targets relevant to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as stroke and dementia.
