About this position
Osaka University's Center for Quantum Information and Quantum Life Science (QIQB) invites applications for a full-time Project Assistant Professor or Project Research Fellow to contribute to the project Human Resource Development through Quantum Algorithm Implementation Research, part of the NEDO initiative on next-generation quantum computers for solving social issues.
The research focuses on connecting quantum algorithm development with practical industrial applications. The successful researcher will work on improving established approaches including QSCI for quantum chemical calculations, QCL for quantum machine learning, TE-PAI for condensed-matter quantum simulation, and OTO spectroscopy, while also developing new quantum algorithms.
A major component of the role is implementing and evaluating algorithms on domestically produced quantum computers provided by AIST and on Osaka University's superconducting quantum-computing infrastructure. The researcher will conduct pre-implementation verification with simulators such as ABCI-Q, examine implementation on superconducting and semiconductor quantum-computing platforms, and optimize algorithm performance through collaboration with AIST researchers.
The position also involves use-case-driven collaborative research, research exchanges, project reporting and proposal preparation, and active engagement with students and young researchers participating in QIQB and AIST projects. Depending on the appointment, the role may additionally include coordinating research meetings, reporting sessions, collaborative activities, and practical research guidance.
QIQB provides an interdisciplinary research environment centered on quantum information science, quantum computing, quantum machine learning, and quantum life science, with strong links to the Department of Physics at Osaka University's Graduate School of Science and national quantum-computing research infrastructure.
