About this position
Stanford University’s SCALE Initiative is seeking at least one quantitative postdoctoral fellow to conduct rigorous empirical research on educational programs, policies, and interventions. The fellow will be mentored by Professor Susanna Loeb, with additional mentorship from Carly Robinson, and will join Stanford’s Graduate School of Education research community.
The research focuses on causal inference, randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental methods, large-scale administrative data, and evaluation of K–12 education initiatives. Fellows may contribute to the National Student Support Accelerator and the AI Hub for Education, producing peer-reviewed publications, working papers, research briefs, reports, and other tools for policymakers and education practitioners.
Candidates must hold a PhD in education, economics, sociology, public policy, or a related field and demonstrate strong quantitative research and statistical programming skills in Stata, R, or Python. Experience with education policy, empirical program evaluation, collaborative research partnerships, and project management is required. Preferred experience includes field-based randomized controlled trials, NLP or computational methods for educational datasets, and partnerships with school districts or educational organizations.
The appointment runs from August 1, 2027, through July 31, 2028, with some flexibility and strong potential for renewal. The expected base pay is $82,000–$85,000.
