About this position
The Department of Botany at the Faculty of Biology/Chemistry, Universität Osnabrück, Germany, is recruiting a Research Assistant (m/f/d) for a three-year position starting March 1, 2026. This role is part of the DFG Research Unit 'Innovation and Coevolution in sexual reproduction of plants' (ICIPS, FOR 5098), focusing on the molecular and morphological analyses of TGA transcription factors and their ROXY co-regulators. The research investigates redox processes in reproductive organ development and adaptation to stress factors in evolutionary model plants such as liverworts (Marchantia polymorpha, Riccia fluitans) and Arabidopsis thaliana.
Key tasks include molecular and morphological analyses, use of model systems, expression, metabolome and redox sensor analyses, data evaluation, and publication writing. The position offers the opportunity to work towards a PhD outside working hours. Applicants should have a Master's degree in biology or related fields, motivation for genetic, cell biological, and evolutionary research, and experience with molecular/cell biological techniques. Ideal candidates will have experience with Arabidopsis or bryophyte models, bioinformatics, and strong English skills.
The research unit provides an interactive environment, interdisciplinary collaboration, and access to advanced equipment at the iBiOs Imaging Center. The university supports career development, professional training, and family-friendly policies. Applications should be submitted by January 15, 2026, including the reference number (ERF) and two references, to Prof. Dr. Sabine Zachgo ([email protected]).
