About this position
Research Associate in Consolidation & Water Treatment at the University of Alberta will join a one-year, in-person research appointment based at North Campus in Edmonton.
The role sits within the Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences and the Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Sciences area, working under the supervision of Dr. Aman Ullah. The project focuses on a Consolidation and Water Treatment research theme that aims to develop solutions to environmental challenges and current energy systems.
The successful candidate will work on the development and testing of advanced bio-based and functional materials, including consolidants, biosorbents, and photocatalysts. The work includes synthesizing and characterizing advanced materials derived from waste and bio-resources, investigating their properties, and evaluating their potential for consolidation and water remediation.
This position is highly interdisciplinary and is embedded in a broader research team. The researcher will contribute to laboratory experiments, data collection and analysis, preparation of films and sensors, and further development of advanced materials for applications that can be transferred toward industry use.
The appointment also involves supporting experiments, preparing samples for structural, optical, thermal, and mechanical analyses, and contributing to research outputs such as papers, reports, presentations, and collaborative work with researchers and industry partners.
Overall, the post is centered on applied materials research at the interface of environmental remediation, advanced functional materials, and translational research.
