About this position
The University of Southern California’s Saito laboratory is recruiting a Research Associate to join a project on innate immunology against human pathogenic viruses and bacteria in the setting of liver diseases. The work sits at the interface of host-pathogen interaction and inflammatory disease, using a broad experimental toolkit that spans cell biology, virology, genetics, molecular biology, and systems biology.
The successful researcher will develop and lead highly technical projects under the PI’s guidance, from framing research questions and designing experiments to generating, analyzing, and interpreting data. The role is strongly experimental and includes molecular and cellular work, protein and nucleic acid assays, microscopy-based analysis, and in vivo mouse studies. The associate is also expected to contribute to publication and conference outputs as a lead author and to support day-to-day laboratory quality control and protocol maintenance.
This position is based in the Saito laboratory within Keck Medicine of USC, part of the University of Southern California’s medical research environment in Los Angeles. The lab’s research focus is on innate immunity and disease mechanisms relevant to liver pathology, with work carried out in a setting that combines academic research with access to advanced biomedical infrastructure.
