About this position
Research Associate in RF Design and Prototyping of Microwave Analog Computing at Imperial College London (South Kensington Campus, London, UK).
This is a full-time, in-person postdoctoral research position in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. The project is funded by UKRI TITAN phase II and focuses on RF design, microwave analog computing, microwave networks, reconfigurable microwave devices, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, and metasurfaces.
The successful candidate will design and prototype Microwave Linear Analog Computer (MiLAC) using non-reconfigurable and reconfigurable microwave networks, explore its potential for next-generation wireless networks, and assess feasibility. The role includes research planning, data collection and analysis, maintaining records, writing reports and journal papers, presenting at conferences, contributing to collaborations and grants, and supporting PhD students.
Eligibility highlights: PhD completed or near completion (or equivalent) in RF design, modelling, prototyping of radio systems, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, metasurfaces, reconfigurable microwave networks, or microwave computing. A significant publication track record is expected, along with practical experience in microwave circuit theory, antenna design/measurement, RF system prototyping/experimentation, and related research methods.
Funding: Salary £50,733–£59,484 per annum. The post is funded until 30 September 2028, with a possible extension to 31 March 2030 after project review.
How to apply: Submit your application via the Imperial application portal. In your application, clearly explain your expertise and your approach to designing and fabricating reconfigurable microwave networks for MiLAC and performing matrix inversion in the analog domain. Closing date: 15 November 2026.
