About this position
Technische Universität Dresden is advertising two Research Associate (m/f/x) positions in the Chair of Radio Frequency and Photonics Engineering, within the work group Integrated Photonic Device, at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering in Dresden, Germany.
The positions are part of the BMFTR project Secure Quantum Communication for Access and Edge Networks (SEQUOIA-EDGENET). The successful candidate will contribute to the simulation, design, layout generation, measurement, and system-demonstrator implementation of photonic components and circuits. The work includes close collaboration with the project team and collaborators, as well as presenting results and preparing reports.
The role is based at TUD Dresden University of Technology, a University of Excellence, and offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification, usually a PhD. The appointment is limited until 2029-09-30 and is paid according to salary group E 13 TV-L, subject to personal qualification. The university notes that the position is generally suitable for part-time employment and offers flexible arrangements to support work-life balance.
Eligibility highlights include a university degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field; strong programming skills in MATLAB/Python and/or C/C++; motivation, independence, and teamwork ability. Experience or knowledge in photonics, semiconductor technologies, numerical simulation, and electromagnetic modeling is considered an advantage. Candidates with German and English language skills have priority.
Application is open until 2026-11-30. Applicants should send the usual documents, quoting reference number w26-274, preferably through the TUD SecureMail Portal, or directly by email to [email protected]. A postal option is also provided to the Chair of Radio Frequency and Photonics Engineering at TU Dresden in Dresden, Germany. The university requests copies only and notes that interview travel expenses will not be reimbursed.
This is a strong opportunity for students and researchers interested in integrated photonic devices, quantum communication, optical and radio-frequency photonics, and experimental/theoretical device development in a leading German research environment.
