About this position

The Istituto di Scienze e Tecnologie della Cognizione at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche in Rome is recruiting for a research contract within the self-financed project “The Predictive Brain in Action – PredBrain”. The work is centered on the study of embodied decision-making and foraging in human participants, combining experimental design, online data collection, and computational analysis.

The successful candidate will contribute to the full research pipeline: designing and running behavioral studies on online platforms, preparing experimental stimuli and protocols, analyzing multimodal behavioral data such as decisions, movement trajectories, and mouse-tracking, and developing computational models that reproduce participants’ decision processes. The project explicitly connects behavioral experimentation with information-theoretic approaches and statistical inference.

The position is based in the ISTC-CNR research environment, under the scientific guidance of Giovanni Pezzulo. The call highlights experience with online behavioral studies, virtual 2D/3D videogame-like environments, and computational modeling as especially relevant. The contract is part of a broader research program in cognitive science and human behavior at CNR.

The appointment is funded through the PredBrain project and offers an annual gross institutional pay of €48,000 for a two-year period.

Funding details

Self-financed project funding; annual gross institutional pay of €48,000; contract duration of 2 years.
