About this position
Monash University’s School of Physics and Astronomy is seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to research in reconfigurable metaphotonics and ultrafast photonics at the Clayton campus. The project sits at the intersection of nanophotonics, materials science and ultrafast optics, with a focus on developing a reconfigurable metasurface platform and studying how it can be temporally controlled.
The successful researcher will work on a platform based on phase-change materials and investigate its modulation using an ultrafast pump-probe optical system. The research includes laser-induced phase transitions in low-loss phase-change materials and carrier-driven modulation in semiconductor platforms, with the goal of advancing dynamic photonic technologies.
The role is embedded in one of Australia’s leading physics schools and offers access to research facilities, infrastructure and collaborative networks supporting experimental photonics. The position is a 2-year fixed-term appointment within Monash University’s School of Physics and Astronomy.
