About this position
The University of Oxford is recruiting a Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the internationally recognised Oxford Endometriosis CaRe Centre (EndoCaRe) within the Nuffield Department of Women’s and Reproductive Health.
Based at the Women’s Centre, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, the postholder will contribute to a translational research programme conducted in collaboration with Hirundo Biosciences. The research will translate human genetic discoveries into potential new treatments for endometriosis.
Responsibilities include validating novel therapeutic targets using patient-derived endometriosis tissues; conducting gene and protein expression analysis; performing primary cell culture and genome editing; developing experimental protocols; investigating disease-relevant cellular processes; and collaborating with clinicians, geneticists and computational scientists. The role also involves contributing to publications, funding applications and presentations, managing research activities and budgets, and supervising and guiding other research team members.
Applicants should hold a PhD or DPhil in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, reproductive biology or a related discipline, with postdoctoral experience in genome editing. A strong publication record, first-author papers, experience with primary tissues, tissue culture and in vitro functional assays, and bioinformatic analysis of genomic or transcriptomic data are required. Experience with human tissues, organoids, genetic manipulation of primary cells, single-cell sequencing or spatial sequencing is advantageous.
This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for three years. Flexible working arrangements may be considered, although occasional out-of-hours work may be needed for patient tissue collection. Applications must include a CV and supporting statement. The closing date is 12:00 noon on 26 November 2026, with interviews expected on 16 December 2026. Informal enquiries may be directed to Dr Jennifer Southcombe at [email protected].
