About this position

ETH Zürich is recruiting for two teaching positions within the Master of Science in Landscape Architecture (MScLA) program, starting in Fall 2026. The first position is for an Instructor in Digital Design Methods 1, working with the Chair of Landscape Architecture led by Prof. Teresa Galí-Izard. The second is a Scientific Assistant (teaching and research) specializing in landscape architectural design, with the Chair of Landscape Architecture and Geohistorical Practice led by Assistant Professor Aisling O’Carroll.

The Digital Design Methods 1 Instructor will deliver lectures and hands-on exercises for the first-semester MSc Landscape Architecture cohort, focusing on computational tools such as Rhinoceros 3D, Grasshopper, and QGIS for landscape and territorial design. The role includes teaching, assessment, and coordination, with an intensive teaching phase in September–October and a support phase in November–December. Required qualifications include advanced proficiency in Rhinoceros 3D and Grasshopper, a background in landscape architecture, proficiency in QGIS, teaching experience, and excellent English skills. Additional assets are an active GitHub profile, C# development experience, and AI-assisted workflow knowledge.

The Scientific Assistant position supports both research and teaching in the MScLA program, particularly in the advanced design studio. The role involves research in geohistorical practice, integrating natural sciences and humanities with design, and teaching studio methods that combine fieldwork, archival study, and digital/analogue design. Candidates should have experience in research and teaching, a master’s degree in architecture or landscape architecture, interdisciplinary interest, and the ability to teach in English (German desirable). Experience in a landscape architecture office is a plus.

Both positions offer competitive compensation and the opportunity to work in a stimulating academic environment at one of the world’s leading universities of science and technology. ETH Zürich values diversity, sustainability, and an inclusive culture. Applications must be submitted online via the ETH Zurich job portal, including a cover letter, CV, portfolio, and references as specified. Applications via email or post are not accepted. The review of applications is rolling, with the intended start date for the Scientific Assistant position on June 1, 2026, and the Instructor position starting in Fall 2026.

For further information, contact Prof. Teresa Galí-Izard ([email protected]) or Johanna Just ([email protected]). For more details and to apply, visit the ETH Zurich job portal.
