About this position
The University of Bern is offering two fully funded PhD positions in plant community ecology and ecosystem functioning, beginning in March 2027.
The project, “Effects of transient plant species on ecosystem functioning and soil microbial communities, using the PaNDiv grassland field experiment,” will investigate how temporary or transient plant species influence the functioning of grassland ecosystems and associated soil microbial communities. The research connects plant community ecology with ecosystem processes and belowground microbial interactions.
The positions are based in the Community Ecology Group within the Institute of Plant Sciences at the University of Bern, under the supervision of Professor Eric Allan. The work offers a research environment focused on ecological relationships, grassland field experimentation, ecosystem functioning, and plant–soil interactions.
The advert states that the positions are fully funded and that applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the positions are filled.
