PhD in Physics: Radiation–Matter Interaction in Organic and Hybrid Low-Dimensional Semiconductors

PhD opportunity in Physics at the University of Bologna, Italy, on Radiation–Matter Interaction in Organic and Hybrid Low-Dimensional Semiconductors . This is a fully funded 3-year doctoral project in an interdisciplinary experimental setting at the interface of solid-state physics, organic electronics, radiation physics, and semiconductor device research. The project will investigate how ionizing radiation affects organic and hybrid semiconductors, including low-dimensional halide perovskites. Research themes include charge generation and transport, trap states, ion migration, device response under radiation, material synthesis and optimization, thin-film processing, device fabrication, electrical characterization, and radiation testing under controlled conditions. The position is hosted at the University of Bologna / Department of Physics and Astronomy “Augusto Righi” (DIFA), with links to the Bologna Semiconductor Physics Group. The programme includes research mobility abroad, and the post highlights a 6-month research period abroad. Eligible applicants are encouraged to have a background in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field, and to be enthusiastic about experimental and interdisciplinary research. The call is open for the 2026–2027 Physics PhD cycle. Deadline: 15 June 2026 . Interested candidates should consult the official University of Bologna PhD page and the linked application details, then submit the required materials through the official portal.
