The successful candidate is expected to build a nationally recognized program advancing bioproducts technologies, value-added uses of South Dakota commodities, crop and forestry residues, byproducts of bioprocessing, and sustainable circular food systems. The post also highlights work in the Raven Precision Agriculture Center and scale-up using commercial facilities in the Bioproducts Institute.
Responsibilities
are approximately 12% teaching and 88% research, including Agricultural Experiment Station responsibilities. The department emphasizes collaboration with faculty, staff, campus institutes, government agencies, commodity associations, granting agencies, and other universities.
Minimum qualifications
include a PhD in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline by the date of appointment, plus the ability to present and publish research results, secure extramural funding, demonstrate relevant teaching experience, and communicate effectively. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of Midwest or Great Plains agricultural production practices, experience in bioprocessing and bioproducts research, and the ability or potential to mentor graduate students.
Funding and benefits
include a minimum salary of
$90,000
