. The project sits within the Department of Medical Informatics and the Health Data Science group, with international collaboration through
OHDSI
and large-scale observational data networks.
You will work on developing, implementing, benchmarking, and validating AI/ML workflows for reliable safety signal detection and validation across observational health data sources. Research themes include responsible AI, robustness, fairness, interpretability, causal inference, personalized risk assessment, and sex/gender-aware analysis, with attention to vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, children, and older adults.
Supervision will be provided by
Dr. Aniek Markus
and
Prof. dr. ir. Peter Rijnbeek
. The position is embedded in a multidisciplinary, open-science environment at Erasmus MC, an international academic hospital and research institution in the Netherlands.
Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as natural sciences, computer science, medical/health informatics, econometrics, or data science; strong programming skills in
R/Python
and
SQL
; excellent English; motivation for interdisciplinary research. Pharmacovigilance experience is not required but is considered an advantage.
Funding and terms: full-time appointment for
4 years
with a gross monthly salary of
€3217–€4220
, plus benefits including a 13th month, travel package, pension contribution, and support from the International Office.
