MSCA PhD opportunity in Biophysics and Neurodegenerative Diseases within the European LipAgg Doctoral Network . The project (DC13) focuses on the structure and dynamics of protein-lipid complexes such as Aβ and IAPP , with the goal of understanding the mechanisms that trigger cellular membrane damage and contribute to diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s . The doctoral journey is highly international: 24 months at the University of Calabria (Italy), 11 months at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences (Göttingen, Germany), and 1 month at Biofordrug (Bari, Italy). Research methods include advanced spectroscopy techniques such as FTIR , EPR , and NMR . This is a strong fit for candidates interested in structural biology, biophysics, physical chemistry, and molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration. Funding is provided through a 36-month full-time MSCA contract with a living allowance of about €3,821/month gross , plus a €710/month mobility allowance and a family allowance if applicable. Eligibility requires a Master’s degree in Biophysics, Physical Chemistry, Chemistry, or Physics. Applicants must also satisfy the MSCA mobility rule: they must not have resided in Italy for more than 12 months in the last 3 years. To apply, prepare a CV with methodological skills, a motivation letter, degree proof or expected completion, thesis if available, transcripts, and references. Deadline: 15 June 2026 (12 am CET).
