Industry-Focused PhD Opportunities in Collaboration with CSIRO, Universities, and Industry Partners

The CSIRO Industry PhD (iPhD) Program is a unique four-year doctoral opportunity that connects students with an industry partner, a university, and CSIRO to co-develop industry-focused research projects. The program is designed to deliver research with real-world impact, foster professional and technical skills, and provide students with broad industry exposure. Students benefit from a fully funded scholarship of approximately $47,000 per annum, a project expense package, and a structured professional development program. Each PhD project is developed collaboratively by the university, CSIRO, and an industry partner, ensuring alignment with industry needs and academic rigor. Students are supervised by a panel including university, CSIRO, and industry supervisors. Eligibility is limited to Australian or New Zealand citizens or permanent residents who meet university PhD admission requirements and are not already holding a primary scholarship or a PhD. The program emphasizes applied science, entrepreneurship, and innovation, with projects spanning diverse fields such as education, digital games, and more. Applications are accepted for specific advertised projects, and students must apply through the university links provided on the iPhD scholarships page. The program offers a 60-day industry engagement component and access to specialized training and networks, enhancing employability and career prospects. For more information and to view current opportunities, visit the CSIRO iPhD scholarships website.
