The University of Cambridge Department of Pathology, in collaboration with AstraZeneca, is offering a four-year, fully funded PhD studentship beginning 1 October 2027. The project, based at the University of Cambridge and the AstraZeneca Discovery Centre in Cambridge, investigates improved 2A peptides for co-translational separation of polyproteins. 2A peptides enable ribosome skipping, allowing multiple proteins or pathway components to be expressed from a single promoter. The research will inv...

About this position

University of Oxford DPhil in Structural Biology

Christian Siebold’s group at STRUBI, the University of Oxford’s structural biology research environment, is seeking a DPhil student for the 2027 entry through the NDM Prize Studentships scheme.

The project will investigate the structural and molecular mechanisms of Hedgehog signalling within the primary cilium. The student will examine how membrane proteins and signalling complexes function and organise in their cellular environment, addressing signalling processes from atomic to cellular scales. The research has potential implications for understanding cancer and other diseases.

The project combines cutting-edge cryo-electron microscopy, cryo-electron tomography, biochemical methods and cell-based approaches. It offers interdisciplinary training across structural biology, molecular biology, cell biology and biophysics, supported by access to world-class facilities and a collaborative research environment at Oxford.
