About this position
The University of Liverpool Management School is offering four-year fully funded Graduate Teaching Fellowships for students planning to start a Management PhD in October 2027.
This studentship is designed to support doctoral researchers who want to build both their research profile and teaching experience. Successful applicants receive an annual maintenance grant of £21,805 for four years, full coverage of PhD programme fees for four years, and structured higher education teaching training and practice. In the first year, fellows complete a short teacher training programme and begin developing pedagogical skills through mentored classroom shadowing. Over the remainder of the PhD, students focus on their research thesis while also completing a fixed number of teaching hours.
The fellowship is open to full-time PhD students worldwide. Applicants should have a UK master’s degree, or international equivalent, in a business and management discipline, preferably at merit level or above. A strong research proposal is required.
Research proposals are invited across several management areas, including Marketing; Operations and Supply Chain Management; Strategy, International Business and Entrepreneurship; and Work, Organisation and Management. Indicative topics include B2B marketing, consumer behaviour and digital identity, consumer culture, marketing strategy and analytics, vulnerable consumers and responsible marketing, transport and logistics, agri-food supply chains, sustainable operations and supply chain management, agile operations, supply chain technologies, sustainable strategy and governance, innovation and collaboration across borders, entrepreneurship and social inclusion, work, health and wellbeing, leadership, equality, diversity and inclusion, identity, and grand challenges in work and management. For 2027/2028, the WOM group particularly welcomes proposals on communication in unsettled environments and wicked problems.
To apply, candidates must first express interest by completing the specified form before Friday 27 November 2026 at 5pm UK time. Applicants may also suggest potential supervisors, although this is optional; final matching is decided by the school after review of research fit.
Overall, this is a strong opportunity for prospective management PhD students seeking funded doctoral study with teaching development at a major UK university.
