About this position
Keele University is inviting applications for fully funded doctoral research through the ESRC North West Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (NWSSDTP) for 2027 entry. Successful applicants will work with prospective supervisors and the Faculty Research Degrees Team to prepare a studentship application for the 2026–27 round. The award is offered as either a PhD-only studentship (+3.5) or a Master’s + PhD studentship (1+3.5). The standard duration is 3.5 years full-time, with possible extension in some cases depending on project requirements.
Funding includes a tax-free stipend (currently £21,805 per annum for full-time study, subject to annual UKRI rates), 100% of home tuition fees, access to the NWSSDTP Research Training Support Grant (RTSG), and access to the Overseas and UK Fieldwork Fund. International students who are awarded the studentship will receive a fee waiver covering the difference between home and international tuition fees.
Eligibility: open to both Home and International applicants. Applicants must meet Keele University’s PhD entry requirements. The university particularly encourages applications from candidates whose backgrounds are historically underrepresented in Higher Education.
