About this position
The French Family Allowance Fund (Cnaf), the national umbrella organisation of the CAF social security network, is offering support for young researchers working on family and social policy, or on social issues linked to families or poverty.
The main opportunity is a three-year PhD contract under the CIFRE programme. In this arrangement, the doctoral researcher is assigned to an organisation and divides their time between Cnaf and their research laboratory. The post is designed for a project with a strong applied dimension and a clear connection to family and social policy in France, including comparative work when it genuinely situates France in an international context.
Alongside the doctoral contract, Cnaf also awards up to six prizes for an academic article based on the applicant’s own research findings. The first prize includes publication in Cnaf’s journal, Revue des politiques sociales et familiales. These awards recognise original research written by the applicant and open to candidates working on related themes from a range of social science and policy disciplines.
This opening therefore combines a doctoral research opportunity with a publication-oriented prize scheme, all centred on the study of families, poverty, and social policy in the French context.
