About this position
Fully funded MS and PhD opportunities are available in the Fettrow Global Change Biogeochemistry Lab at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, within the Department of Earth, Environment and Planetary Sciences (EEPS).
The positions are part of an interdisciplinary research team focused on biogeochemistry, climate change, environmental science, soil science, and related Earth system processes. Research topics include the impact of forest fires on forest biogeochemical cycles, warming in polar regions and melting permafrost, and the blue carbon cycle in coastal wetlands under sea level rise.
Funding is described as a fully funded Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) with full tuition coverage and a monthly stipend.
Preferred academic backgrounds include geology, chemistry, biology, microbiology, soil and plant science, or a related discipline. The lab is looking for students who are interested in remote fieldwork, analytical chemistry laboratory work, greenhouse experiments, and collaborative multidisciplinary research.
To apply, send a CV and a short 2–3 sentence statement of research interests to [email protected]. The post does not list a formal deadline, so early contact is recommended.
This is a strong opportunity for students interested in climate change, ecosystems, wetlands, permafrost, forest fires, and biogeochemical cycling at a major U.S. research university.
