We are currently looking for a PhD candidate to investigate offshore to develop a spatial decision-support tool to autonomously identify optimal OHRES sites.  Expressions of interest are welcome from domestic and international applicants. The primary focus of this role is a GIS-based decision-support tool designed to assist energy planners and system managers in visually analysing spatial and analytical results. Success in this role requires collaboration with the industry partners and the Blue Economy CRC.  The PhD candidate will join a productive, multidisciplinary research team and contribute to a research programme within the Blue Economy CRC titled Offshore Renewable Energy Systems. The scholarship provides an annual stipend of $38,500 (indexed) for up to three and a half years of full-time study. International applicants will also receive a Griffith University International Postgraduate Research Scholarship covering tuition fees for the same period.

What's required

Applicants must have completed, or expect to complete, a bachelor's degree with honours equivalent to second/division A class honours or a Masters degree (AQF Level 9) with a significant research component, or be regarded by Griffith University as having an equivalent level of attainment. International applicants must meet English language proficiency requirements: minimum IELTS (Academic) overall band score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0), or TOEFL 575 (paper-based, TWE ≥5.0), or TOEFL iBT 79 (no sub-score less than 19). Academic merit and research background are considered. All backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
