About this position
Kenyon College is offering a two-year Teacher-Scholar Fellowship in the sciences for a scholar at the postdoctoral stage who has recently completed doctoral work. The fellowship is designed to help early-career scientists build a career in a liberal arts college setting while staying active in research and contributing to teaching and mentorship.
The position spans multiple scientific fields, including Biology, Neuroscience, Psychology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics, as well as interdisciplinary areas such as Biochemistry and Environmental Science. The fellow will work closely with an experienced faculty mentor in the home department and gain hands-on experience in course design, teaching, inclusive pedagogy, and student mentoring in both classroom and laboratory settings.
Alongside teaching, the Teacher-Scholar is expected to maintain or develop an independent research program using resources available in the host department and the mentor’s laboratory. The role also includes presenting at least one college-wide lecture or departmental seminar on the fellow’s research specialty and participating in the academic and cultural life of the college.
Kenyon College describes itself as a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio with a strong sense of community. The fellow will be based in the Mathematics and Statistics department, with opportunities to contribute to the broader scientific and intellectual environment across campus.
