About this position

Labex CAP offers immersion scholarships that place doctoral researchers in French museums and cultural heritage institutions while they carry out their PhD research.

This programme is run by the Labex CAP research cluster at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and places six PhD students each year in partner institutions such as the Centre Pompidou, the Musée d’Orsay, the Musée Picasso, the Musée des Arts décoratifs, the INHA, and Sèvres.

The scholarship is designed to give doctoral researchers hands-on experience in a museum environment. Depending on the host institution’s needs, work may involve preparing exhibitions, researching collections, or working with archives.

The scheme is particularly well suited to students whose doctoral projects are closely connected to art history, cultural studies, museums, and cultural heritage, and whose dissertation topic matches a specific partner institution’s profile.

The opportunity combines doctoral research with professional experience in a cultural setting, offering a strong bridge between academic work and museum practice.
