About this position
Bond University’s Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare, within the Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine, is inviting expressions of interest for a PhD focused on implementing antibiotic stewardship in the community.
The doctoral research forms part of the Medical Research Future Fund Clinical Trial Activity Grant project Evidence-Based Antimicrobial Stewardship: Sustainable Implementation in Primary Care (EASSI-PC). The project aims to reduce antibiotic use for acute, self-limiting infections by increasing the uptake of established evidence-based strategies and strengthening the evidence base for innovative approaches.
The research questions are preliminary, giving the successful HDR candidate scope to refine the project in consultation with the supervisory team. The candidate will work with Associate Professor Mina Bakhit, Professor Tammy Hoffmann, and Emeritus Professor Paul Glasziou in a leading primary care and evidence-based healthcare environment.
The research environment offers training in quantitative and qualitative methods, trial design, and implementation science. The PhD student will also gain direct experience with nationally funded MRFF research and stakeholder engagement involving clinicians, patients, and policymakers.
The project provides an opportunity to investigate a significant public health challenge at community and national level while developing expertise in antimicrobial stewardship, primary care research, clinical trials, and evidence-based healthcare.
