This is not a conventional scholarship: recipients accept a one-year civilian employment commitment with the Department of War for each year of funding received. That service obligation is a central part of the award and should be considered carefully before applying.

What's required
Applicants must be citizens of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom; be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2028; have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; be currently pursuing or intend to pursue in Fall 2027 an eligible Bachelor's, Master's, or doctoral STEM degree; plan to attend or already be enrolled in a regionally accredited U.S. college or university; be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance; request between one and five years of degree funding; complete required summer internships for applicable awards; and accept the post-graduation civilian employment commitment. Active-duty military applicants must be separated or on terminal leave by 1 August of the year following application, and ROTC applicants with a future service commitment are generally not eligible.
