About this position
This PhD-style clinical research position at Amsterdam UMC focuses on preventing acute kidney injury after heart surgery and improving how it is detected, predicted, and understood over the longer term.
The appointed arts-onderzoeker will coordinate a large multicenter clinical trial testing a kidney-protective intervention in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. In parallel, the project includes additional clinical and translational studies designed to better understand perioperative renal injury and its consequences for patients. The role is embedded in a multidisciplinary environment, with close collaboration across internal medicine, cardiothoracic surgery, and anesthesiology.
You will be involved from the start in setting up and executing clinical research projects, contributing to research design, implementation, and the development of new diagnostics and interventions. The advert emphasizes a strongly clinical research culture within the team of (physician-)researchers at the anesthesiology and internal medicine departments of Amsterdam UMC, location AMC, with involvement in national and international consortia and access to a broad network of expertise.
The supervisor contact named in the advert is Bram Hulst, who is available for substantive questions about the vacancy.
