About this position
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is offering a post-master’s fellowship with the Division of Regulatory Science and Compliance (DRSC) in the Office of Readiness and Response in Atlanta, Georgia.
The fellowship places the participant in DRSC’s Biosafety, Science, Training, and Expertise Branch, where the work supports training programs for new and experienced inspectors and auditors working across the Federal Select Agent Program, the Import Permit Program, and the U.S. National Authority for Containment of Poliovirus.
This opportunity is centered on the intersection of biosafety, regulatory science, and technical training development. The fellow will help translate complex scientific and technical information into educational materials, measurable learning objectives, competency-based curricula, and assessment strategies.
The project also emphasizes instructional design and training evaluation. The participant will work with adult-learning principles and evidence-informed approaches to develop and refine learning materials, while analyzing evaluation data to better understand learner outcomes and program effectiveness.
Under mentor guidance, the fellow will gain experience in how STEM expertise and educational design are applied in a public health regulatory environment. The appointment offers a close look at how CDC supports laboratory biosafety, biosecurity, oversight, and risk reduction through staff training and continuous improvement.
The research environment is rooted in CDC’s mission to protect health and safety through science and public health preparedness. The opportunity is designed for a master’s-level graduate interested in developing skills that connect science, education, and regulatory operations.
