About this position
The IFAE Theory Division in Barcelona invites applications for one to two postdoctoral researchers to join the GravNet project, an ERC-funded initiative focused on the search for high-frequency gravitational waves. The successful candidates will work within the GravNet-IFAE group on the theoretical side of the program, contributing to the modeling and simulation of detector responses to gravitational waves from different sources.
The project aims to optimize searches for high-frequency gravitational waves using networks of electromagnetic cavities or other future setups. The work includes developing realistic sensitivity calculations, studying source characterization and detector response, and exploring alternative network configurations and other detection strategies. A particular emphasis is placed on theoretical developments that can help design the best strategy for future detection efforts, including approaches that leverage quantum sensing.
The postdoctoral researchers will be embedded in the broader Beyond the Standard Model and Astroparticle Physics and Cosmology groups at IFAE, interacting with a theory team that includes D. Blas, E. Masso, A. Pomarol, O. Pujolas, M. Quiros, F. Rompineve, E. Salvioni and A. Wulzer. IFAE is attached to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is based on the UAB campus in Barcelona, providing a strong research environment in high-energy theory, cosmology, and related fields.
The positions are full-time and expected to last two to three years, with a planned start in Fall 2027.

What's required
Applicants should have a PhD in Physics or related topics by the start of the contract. Research expertise in Theoretical Physics is required, and experience with theoretical work on searches for BSM physics or gravitational-wave physics in laboratory set-ups, especially using quantum sensing techniques, is particularly welcome.
How to apply
