About this position
The Cardiac Proteomics & Systems Biology Group at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, is seeking a highly motivated PhD fellow. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team led by Professor Alicia Lundby, focusing on advancing spatial proteomics of the heart and elucidating the molecular architecture of the cardiac conduction system (CCS). This research aims to uncover mechanisms underlying heart rate control and arrhythmogenic disease, using cutting-edge methodologies such as laser capture microdissection and quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics.
The project, supported by a grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark, will generate cell type-resolved proteomes of CCS regions, with a particular focus on the sinus node in both animal models and human tissue. The fellow will develop and optimize spatial proteomics workflows, perform quantitative proteomics and data analysis, and collaborate on multi-omics investigations of cardiac disease mechanisms. The research environment offers access to state-of-the-art laboratories, core facilities, and modern office spaces, fostering academic excellence, creativity, and responsibility.
Applicants should hold an M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field, with a strong academic record and research experience. Hands-on expertise in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, data processing, laser capture microdissection, image-guided tissue analysis, fluorescent microscopy, and knowledge of cardiac physiology are highly desirable. Strong English communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential. The master's degree must be equivalent to a Danish master's degree, and applicants may need to provide an official assessment of their education.
The position is fully funded, with a starting monthly salary of approximately 31,200 DKK (about 4,170 EUR) plus pension, for a period of 3 years. The workplace is located at Maersk Tower, The Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The suggested start date is between March and September 2026. The application deadline is 8 January 2026.
To apply, submit your application online via the University of Copenhagen job portal, including a cover letter, CV, relevant diplomas, transcripts, list of publications, and contact details for two referees. For more information, visit the Cardiac Proteomics Group website at www.lundbylab.com or contact Professor Alicia Lundby at [email protected].
