About this position
Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden is recruiting a PhD student for a project on proteomics and insulin resistance in metabolic disease. The doctoral project will investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying adipocyte insulin resistance and its reversal after bariatric surgery.
The research combines mass spectrometry-based proteomics, deep plasma proteomics, metabolomics, multi-omics integration, bioinformatics, quantitative data analysis, and functional studies in human 3D adipocyte models. The work will be carried out in a collaborative environment with Prof. Mikael Rydén, Prof. Yihai Cao, Prof. Volker Lauschke, and their teams.
Applicants should have a strong background in biomedicine, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, metabolism, bioinformatics, or a related field. Experience in proteomics/metabolomics, quantitative data analysis, or metabolic research is especially valued.
This is a PhD opening, not a scholarship announcement. The application deadline is 9 October 2026. Interested candidates should apply via the linked online portal.
