About this position

This postdoctoral research associate position at the New Jersey Institute of Technology sits at the intersection of mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering. The project is described as highly interdisciplinary and brings together ideas from quantitative and experimental biology, materials science, control theory, computational methods, and experimental neurophysiology to support the development and manufacture of novel devices and materials for healthcare applications.

The successful researcher will work collaboratively with a faculty mentor in NJIT’s research environment and will also be mentored in project management and proposal development. The role is hands-on and research intensive, with responsibilities that include designing and running experiments, carrying out laboratory measurements, analyzing materials after testing, processing and interpreting data, and preparing reports and manuscripts for publication. The postdoc will also present results at national and international conferences.

The position includes close interaction with a Ph.D. student on all aspects of the project, as well as opportunities to work within a broader academic setting that values collaboration and scholarly output. The advert also points to work involving novel devices, materials, and healthcare-oriented engineering applications, suggesting a strongly applied research agenda with both experimental and computational elements.

The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal depending on funding and performance.

Funding details

Compensation listed at $63,480 - $70,344 per year for a full-time postdoctoral appointment; renewal contingent on availability of funds and satisfactory performance.

What's required
