About this position
The Staller lab in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a collaborative project in systems biology and molecular/cell biology. The lab, part of the Division of Genetics, Genomics, Evolution, and Development and connected to the Center for Computational Biology, studies transcription factor function using a genomics approach to biochemistry.
The project investigates how folded protein domains cause transcription factors to form filaments and how filament formation contributes to cooperative DNA binding and gene regulation. The successful candidate will work on transcription factors from yeast, human, and plant systems, combining experimental and computational approaches.
Research activities include molecular biology and yeast-based assays, Illumina sequencing library preparation, DNA isolation, PCR, yeast cell culture, high-throughput functional screening, cloning large plasmid libraries, data analysis, and computational modeling. The role also includes designing and executing experiments, managing data, preparing manuscripts, presenting research, contributing to grant proposals, and mentoring students.
The lab offers opportunities for experimental training, computational training, and career development within an interdisciplinary environment that integrates experiments, theory, simulations, machine learning, and evolutionary comparison.
