About this position
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and UNC School of Medicine. The position is based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States, and is expected to last 12 months.
The project examines how the tumor-intrinsic NLRP3 inflammasome contributes to immune evasion during tumor dormancy, treatment-resistant persistor cell development, tumor relapse, and metastatic progression. Research will combine ex vivo tumor–T-cell co-culture assays, in vivo tumor models, and tumor clinical specimens.
Methods may include CRISPR/Cas9-targeted gene deletion, microbead and FACS cell purification, flow cytometry, Western blotting, qRT-PCR, ELISA, RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, micro-CT imaging, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence in situ hybridization, proximity ligation assays, and potentially spatial transcriptomics.
A PhD is required. Competitive applicants should have experience with mouse tumor models and tissue culture, plus familiarity with flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry. Experience with RNA-seq transcriptional analysis and CRISPR/Cas9 is preferred. UNC postdoctoral benefits include comprehensive medical and vision coverage, paid leave, and professional-development services. The application deadline is November 30, 2026.
