About this position
This postdoctoral fellowship is based at the Department of Engineering and Physics in the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology at Karlstad University. The appointment sits within the department’s electrical engineering research environment, where work is carried out alongside colleagues in physics, mechanical and materials engineering, and industrial engineering and management. The department is described as international and collaborative, with research often developed in close cooperation with industry and with national and regional organisations.
The project is part of the Solar Electricity Research Centre Sweden (SOLVE), a strategic partnership bringing together Swedish solar energy research environments and stakeholders from the public and private sectors. The research focus is on smart integration of solar power into urban environments, ground-mounted installations, and the broader energy system. The project links to wider efforts to support the transition to renewable energy and to contribute to sustainable development goals.
The position is centred on research in electrical engineering, with particular attention to intelligent control of solar power systems and related areas such as intelligent power systems, renewable energy with battery storage, automation, advanced measurement, and optimisation for energy systems. The successful candidate will be expected to work actively with other researchers in the department and to participate in research projects and collaborations with national and international partners.
The role is embedded in a research setting that values active participation in day-to-day academic life, collaborative working, and engagement with wider society through the exchange of knowledge and expertise.
