About this position

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Benguerir, Morocco, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a 12-month renewable project in energy engineering and photovoltaic system performance.

The research examines photovoltaic solar panels installed on post-mining sites and investigates how local vegetation modifies microclimatic conditions and energy yield in semi-arid environments. The project explores interactions among vegetation, climate, and photovoltaic technology, with the goal of improving PV performance under climatic stress.

The researcher will monitor panel temperature, efficiency, and dust accumulation; use environmental sensors and thermal cameras mounted on UAVs or used for infrared thermography; and compare photovoltaic configurations installed with and without vegetation. The work also involves studying dust deposition, analyzing meteorological, soil, and energy-production data, and contributing to models of PV performance under local conditions.

The role combines field measurements, environmental data analysis, photovoltaic engineering, and collaborative research with project partners. It also includes compiling and documenting experimental results and contributing to scientific and technical deliverables.
