About this position
Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the Horani Lab and the WashU Cilia group at the Washington University Medical Campus in St. Louis. The lab investigates airway epithelial cell biology and motile cilia function using human and mouse airway models.
The research focuses on how motile cilia are built and function, including airway cell differentiation, motile ciliogenesis, and the mechanisms underlying primary ciliary dyskinesia. Ongoing and new projects examine the roles of novel proteins in motile cilia structure and function, factors that influence motile ciliogenesis, and inflammation in the airways.
The postdoctoral researcher will manage an independent project designed to lead to a first-author publication while developing expertise in the selected scientific discipline and technical methods. The role also supports broader research development through scientific writing, oral presentations, literature evaluation, data analysis, networking, and communication of results. The researcher will work in a laboratory environment and contribute to laboratory-based teaching of undergraduate or graduate students.
Experience with transcriptomics is encouraged, and microscopy experience is advantageous. The position offers a research setting focused on airway biology, cilia, epithelial differentiation, and disease pathogenesis within a collaborative cilia research community.
